For the chorale members, second in terms of importance to hitting the right notes is eating delicious food. We have always enjoyed cheese and crackers, fresh fruit, deviled eggs and many other yummy snacks during the intermission at rehearsals, while chatting with each other. The Après Sing party after our second concert on Dec. 8, which is a long held tradition for the chorale, brought it to the next level. Hosted by our wonderful Liz Roach (Alto) in her lovely and comfortable home, the chorale feasted on delicious hors d'oeuvres, beautiful salad, ham, and of course also drank cheerful champagne that matched our festive mood. Indeed, we couldn’t have found a better way to celebrate the completion of two concerts that we are very proud of. The upcoming holiday season also increased the festivity. The merry conversations throughout the evening were proof that everyone was having a great time. For me, the most fun part of the après sing party has always been talking to members whom I haven’t had a chance to talk to during normal 15-minute long rehearsal intermissions, and meeting family members of chorale members (for example, Marilyn’s granddaughters). It’s certainly a magical experience to have 50 or so voices blend together so beautifully, and it’s even more of a magical experience to learn about the stories behind those voices.
