Pam Love, Soprano Magnolia Chorale, Class of 2015 My first memory of a live musical theater performance was at the Pentacle Playhouse in Salem, Oregon. One of my babysitters played a maid with high-piled hair and a short toga in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. It was my first exposure to the music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim. The opening number, where a pudgy Zero Mostel look-alike belts “Something familiar, something peculiar…”, ran through my head for weeks. It was thoroughly entertaining and a gateway drug to countless more musicals in my future. I’m overjoyed that Magnolia Chorale will be singing the opening song from A Funny Thing Happened …, the delightfully syncopated “Comedy Tonight.” With its clever lyrics and goofy melody line, it’s the perfect opener for our 2018 spring concert, “Seriously Carefree.” |
Magnolia Chorale is...a community of singers who enjoy spending time together making great music.
